Achieve Athletes

James Laberge

If I could be an animal I'd be a tiger because I have eyes like a predator and can attack at any time out of the pack!

Currently live in:

Napa, CA

Achieve athlete since:

March 2013

Top results since being an Achieve athlete are:
Going professional while going to school
2014 U23 National Criterium Champion
4t h- 2015 Chico Stage Race- Road Race
The best part about being an Achieve athlete is:
Constant communication between coach and client
The perks (Equator, bike frame stickers just to name a few 🙂
Considerate of that everyone has a life outside of cycling and it’s not just about cycling–there’s a balance between riding and normal day life and Achieve nails a perfect balance between performance and normal day life of work, family, school, etc.
The aspect I like most about cycling and/or racing is:

The fact that it is very much a team sport where as most people think of it as an individual sport. I also like that fact that it gives me my own freedom as far as where I can ride and the wind blow through the air. You can travel to so many beautiful places around the world to ride your bike. Even places where you can’t even drive your car or truck to see.

My favourite bike is:

Specialized. The SL4 and the Venge are my favorites. I’ve been racing on Specialized bicycles since I was 14 so I have seen the whole transformation during this time and appreciate the advancements Specialized have made.

The cycling/sporting accomplishment I’m most proud of is:

Winning U23 National Criterium Championships in 2014. It’s been a goal of mine ever since I started racing. To get to wear our nation’s colors on my back for an entire year is not only cool but very honouring. I put it a lot of work towards it (with Coach Dana’s help of course!) and to have it finally pay off is very rewarding–more than any other win.

If I could be one animal I would be a:

A tiger because I have eyes like a predator and can attack at any time out of the pack!

Of the following three facts, two are true and one is false:

I am an Eagle Scout.
I did track and soccer while riding and racing my bike in middle and high school.
I’ve always lived in Napa, CA

My goals for the season include:
Repeat in winning U23 criterium nationals
Podium in an NCC (National Criterium Calendar) race
Take in the whole “pro life” experience and gain as much knowledge as possible
Keep pushing forward with my schooling as I transfer to ACHIEVE my construction management degree
